Fred Carpenter and Tim May play roots music at its best. Their versatile new quartet with bass and mandolin is a solid four square of tone, taste, timing, and timbre. Combined with guitar and fiddle, they can mow down backyard blue-grass, tug Celtic heartstrings, or even croon a jazz standard.
